The first Natural Park of Galicia.

Located on the southern edge of the Serra do Galiñeiro, the watchtower of Monte Aloia presents as one of its main attractions the panoramic views of the valleys of the rivers Miño and Louro. The highest point is at the top of San Xiao (629 m), the most visited place in this enclave. It was the first Natural Park of Galicia, declared on 04/10/1978, although with its 746 hectares, it is the smallest of the existing ones in the community. It has an extensive network of paths, 6 viewpoints and picnic areas to enjoy nature. next to the "wet strip" (border) with neighboring Portugal. The land is owned by the Minor Local Entity of Pazos de Reis and the Neighborhood Community of Montes of the parish of Rebordáns.

Top 5: You can not miss!

  1. Climb the San Xiao stop (or lookout González Páramos, 664 m) to see the valleys of the Miño and Louro rivers. The hermitage of San Xiao, where once there was a castro, is a center of popular traditions.
  2. Visit the archaeological remains of the Cyclopean Wall.
  3. Climb to one of the viewpoints to see the natural wealth of this enclave in which 80% of its surface is covered by trees.
  4. Visit the Rafael Areses Engineer Interpretation Center, a singular forest house in itself and a place of information and interpretative exhibition of the Natural Park. Nearby there is an illustrated arboretum (Botanical Path).
  5. Have the luck to see some of the 11 amphibian and reptile species known in Galicia (there are 14 in total).
