The dominican order was established in the city in 1272 in the quarter of La Corredoira. Its relocation to the parish of San Xoan de Porto, outside the city-walls in 1328, allowed for expansion and the development of its own dynamic, urban building. The Convent was built in 1330 with restoration work carried out in the fifteen and sixteenth century. The administrative centre was built between 1409 and 1423 and emphasizes the connection with the Souto Maior family as feudal patrons of the works, in scenes depicting hunting and the birth of Christ.
